Scribble launched live!

 14/09/2025 - Updated 17th September 2025

Many thanks to all who braved the rainstorms to celebrate the release of our EP Scribble on a Cheat Sheet with us, as well as to the acts who opened for us and particularly our friend Dayve Dean who depped on bass during soundcheck in Simon's temporary absence until showtime. There was also the wonderfully quirky songs of Jasmine Allen Estate and a beautiful set from Violet Cry.

As part of the event we also took part in our 1st live Q&A since the online one for our Kitchen Sessions release, plus an in-depth interview with the whole band for radio, both of which may be included in this post eventually, so come back to see those if you're that keen!

1,2,3 - 2,2,3

Our lovely bass playing friend and partner in creative endeavours Simon has some important stuff to do that wouldn't be fair to go into on a public forum, but it meant that we had to cancel a previous show (only the 2nd ever cancellation by the way - a record we're very proud of) and we also turned down a very nice festival offer.

Now we're currently not certain if Simon will be joining us for the EP live launch night but at rehearsal last night we thought we'd better make plans for 3 piece versions of the songs. As well as the strong urge to celebrate our EP, A significant milestone for us - we also have responsibilities to the venue & the other lovely acts we've booked to support us.

What I can say is that if this will be a 3-piece version of the band playing the launch night  then we have made some minor plus some significant changes to the 5 EP tracks in order to make them work in a live scenario without Simon's very significant creative input.

In particular the opening track on the recording "The Stronger You Love" is a powerful riff-based rocker, almost a punk version of this song in the studio version that just doesn't work played in the same way without Simon's bass, so drummer Dave had some good ideas of turning it into a lilting, off-beat, swing version for the acoustic version we tried out last night, and instead of ripping a rock-guitar solo for instance - I carved some jazz chords into the solo section.

So if it turns out that we play the launch as an acoustic 3 piece, you will at least get to hear some very unique versions of these songs!
